Greg Turner is Jeanette Turner's father, the kind of dad who his kids' friends love, and who thinks the world of his daughter. Though he may present like he has it all together, there are cracks in his otherwise perfect façade.[1]

Early History[]

Biography[]

1993[]

On June 21st, 1993, Greg woke his daughter Jeanette with a joyous happy birthday. His wife and Jeanette's mother Cindy entered with a candle atop a pancake for her to blow out. Her brother and parents clapped for Jeanette after she blew it out. Jeanette explained that she planned to go to the mall with her friends but would be home for birthday dinner. Derek exclaimed that he forgot about dinner and had plans to attend a concert. Greg firmly told Derek that dinner wasn't optional, to which Cindy countered that if Derek skipped dessert he would have plenty of time to attend the concert.

That night, the family celebrated Jeanette's birthday with cake after dinner. Greg and Cindy gave their daughter a photograph, as they found a roll of film and developed it. It was a photo of Jeanette shortly after her birth, in which she was curled up next to her father. Cindy remarked that they were inseparable from the time she was born. Greg and Cindy held hands as Jeanette remarked her love for the git.

Later that night, Jeanette joined Greg in the kitchen to check on him. He claimed to be fine but apologized for her dinner since Derek ditched it, but she understood that it was more important to go on a date or concert than her nerdy birthday party. He assured her that one day everyone would see what he sees when it comes to her, but she didn't think that one day she’ll just be pretty and popular and everyone would notice her. He put a candle on her cake and told her to make another wish if that was what she wanted. She obliged and blew out the candle.

On June 22nd, Jeanette, Vince, and Mallory walked through an alley where they plan to break into an abandoned house which Jeanette thought was illegal. The keys to the house were in Jeanette’s father’s office, Skylin Realty, and they planned to steal the key. Once inside, Greg greeted the friends and asked what they were doing there. Mallory lied that she needed to use the bathroom, which was fine with Greg. She mentioned that Greg was the best dad ever even though she never had one to compare him too. Vince revealed that Mallory’s dad left when she was five as he was an alcoholic and gambler. Mallory rushed off to steal the key while Jeanette apologized to her father for the intrusion, but he assured her it was fine and tried to make small-talk with the teenagers.[2]

1994[]

Greg broke tradition by letting Jeanette's now-boyfriend Jamie Henson wake Jeanette up on the morning of her sixteenth birthday, June 21st. He made Jamie promise that they would wait until marriage to have sex, though he was unaware that the deed had already taken place.

The following day, June 22nd, Jeanette came home with a bloody nose and black eye. She claimed it was from a volleyball accident as Cindy helped apply ice to the wound. Cindy worried she would need plastic surgery, which Greg though absurd as it was just a run-of-the-mill black eye. The news came on so Jeanette panicked and told her parents to turn the volume up. A news reporter revealed that Kate Wallis was found alive after being abducted in 1993. The alleged kidnapper, Martin Harris, was killed in a shootout. Greg remarked that he sold Martin that house and watched in shock alongside Derek and Cindy as Kate was loaded into a police car.[2]

1995[]

Greg angrily awakened Jeanette on June 21st, 1995 to tell her that her lawyer had arrived. She asked which one but he doesn’t think it mattered and told her to get up. She rolled onto her side so he yanked the covers off her. She asked for a minute and after a long pause, he wished her a happy birthday and left the room. He sat in on Jeanette's meeting with her attorney, Denise, but didn't say anything.

That evening, Greg sat at a dive bar and talked to the bartender, Angela, who asked how things went today. He remarked that Jeanette was holding up okay even though she might be a sociopath. Angela didn't think Jeanette was a sociopath, but rather a teenage girl. Greg missed the way she used to be. He asked Angela when she got off work, and she asked if she’s sleeping at his place tonight which he hoped would be the case. He tried to pay his bill but Angela rejected the money as they’ve been together for 4-months, and a perk of dating a bartender was getting free drinks.[2]

Personality[]

Initially a kind-hearted soul and doting father, Greg's personality began to change after his daughter was accused of failing to report the location of Kate Wallis's kidnapping. He grew bitter over the towns anger toward him and his family and the constant cleaning of graffiti off his garage. He expected the worst of people and barely looked at Jeanette. He did, however, start a relationship with Angela Prescott which seemed to provide an outlet for his frustrations.
